my name is Ken.
i'm a young whippersnapper by some people's standards, getting up there by others. to be more exact i was born on November 10, 1974. i have lived almost all of my realized life in New England, specifically New Hampshire. and that doesn't bother me at all, New England fits me. i have followed my dream of moving to Vermont, and though i hope to continue to travel, i'm happy to be a New Englander.
i am married, to a little elf named Amanda Heath Walden. if you take a peek at my name, you might notice an odd number of last names in our family. yes, we both took on a new married name. so we both have maiden names. if your response to that is 'why the hell did they do that' then you may want to read the essay I wrote for our families to clear up just that question.
we were married june of 1996. we have approximately 70,000 pictures of the event, enough to make a full length flip book of the entire wedding. the pictures aren't online though so you'll have to come over if you want to see any of them. we were married on Mt. Agamenticus in York, Maine. it was a lot of fun, i think someday we might do it again, with a few changes.
Amanda and i both went to Exeter AREA High School. i was a real good student in high school. i enjoy learning, reading and all that. i went to Marlboro College for a short while (we're talking weeks here) before deciding that i would rather study at home for free. it was a lot more complicated than that actually but this isn't an essay. so i came home, studied on my own. eventually i began working as a tutor to high school students.
i worked as a tutor primarily for the next six years or so. i also held several other jobs since then, i was never as interested in a career as just having experiences. While living in Newburyport I worked as an apprentice farmer on an organic farm in Ipswich, and at a coffeehouse in downtown Newburyport. Amanda and i then moved to Vermont to help found an intentional community called Meadowdance. more on that is in my intentional living pages.
we now live in a big old house in Springfield, Vermont with a bunch of other families. We spend our time in our businesses, cooking or cleaning for the house, spending time with the kids or with each other. It's a good life.
the best way for you to get to know me is to read all those newsletters and other writings available on these pages. hopefully this page gave you a bit clearer picture of the person behind the keyboard.
